God’s Eye View at The Rectangle

A wall-sized God’s Eye View globe inside The Rectangle, lit in blue: a weather radar and a hurricane over the Americas, live camera thumbnails for Seattle, New York, and Miami, and a layers panel on the left. A visitor points at the globe while a white robot beside him holds a tablet.
Explore Earth from inside the room.

A concept for exploring the Earth across a room through a voice-guided globe, public data, interactive projection, and a robot guide.

What it is

God’s Eye View is an open-source 3D globe by Bilawal Sidhu, combining flight, shipping, satellite, weather, and public camera data. We are exploring a room-scale adaptation for The Rectangle, where visitors could navigate the globe by voice while the surrounding room reacts.

What we built

The concept connects the open-source globe to our spatial architecture: a DASP node could publish navigation events, Spatial OS could route cues to lighting and projection, and Story Engine could interpret selected camera feeds. This is an integration design, not evidence of a finished installation.

How it is used

The proposed experience would let visitors move from satellite imagery to live public data, ask questions, and see the room change around the story. The physical integration remains a design goal.

Evidence

What it shows

What changed

An open-source globe, its public live feeds, and the room’s projection, lighting, sound, and robot host are designed to run as one experience in our lab.

  • Open-source base

The upstream project puts aircraft, ships, satellites, earthquakes, weather, and public cameras on a 3D globe in a browser, with a realtime voice agent to fly it.

  • Open protocol

A proposed DASP node could expose the globe to room-control systems; DASP already has published message schemas.

  • Video understanding

Story Engine’s video understanding, which indexes footage by shots, captions, entities, and events with time codes, is the same capability shown on the Escape.ai study.

  • Where to see it

Contact us to discuss the concept and available lab demonstrations.

Context

Conceptual room integration based on public feeds and open source. No finished installation or DAL implementation repository is presented.
